10 Virtuosic Solos that are dazzling, appealing to the player and audience.
Bumble Boogie by Jack Fina is a winner - Clever arrangement incorporates Flight of the Bumble Bee with boogie-woogie bass. Glissandi at end. Lies well under the hands. Also Joplin's Cascades, Confrey's Dizzy Fingers, Kitten on the Keys, Arndt's Nola, Gould's Boogie Woogie Etude, Anderson's Syncopated Clock and Gershwin's Fascinating Rhythm, I Got Rhythm and Rialto Ripples; the latter in short (2-5 pg) arrangements.
Reviewer questions CD performer's rhythm in "I Got Rhythm", which, ironically, seems inaccurate!
WOW! This is one of those rare wonderful collections that every advanced pianist should own. The selections are truly impressive. Finally; a book that is labeled 'Advanced' and it IS actually ADVANCED! The Bumble Boogie is my favorite and I'm sure it will always be at my fingertips. It's one of those that's hard to forget once you've learned it correctly.
Another favorite is the 'Cascades' a classic, catchy rag. I really can't rate this collection high enough.
An absolue must-have for any advanced pianist, old or young!
Received the book and CD. The CD will not play. It just spins.
