Don't Let Go Navy SEALs Book 5 Marliss Melton 9780446618359 Books

Don't Let Go is the 5th Book in Marliss Melton's Seal Team Twelve Series. While I enjoyed this book I didn't like it as much as the previous book in the series. The characters just weren't as well developed in this story.

Solomon who I didn't particularly like in the previous book is the hero for this book and he didn't do anything to change my opinion of him until at least half way through this book. He was a bit condescending and showed no real compassion for Jordan when he refused to allow her to bring her son (especially given that he of all people should have understood what it's like to lose a child). We didn't get to see a lot of character development for him and a lot of his scenes where he was getting to know his son again happened between chapters which we didn't get to read about.

Jordan had a few TSTL moments. I understood where she was coming from but she showed no appreciation for the men who risked their lives to save her and for her to believe she could just waltz back into the war-torn country and get Miguel out was ridiculous. I could see her believing she needed to try before Solomon told her he had someone in the country working on getting Miguel out but not after she found out. She put her life and Miguel's at risk because she was just too stupid or stubborn to listen to anyone else or to allow anyone else to help her.

As usual with these books there is a secondary romance which I actually really enjoyed. I liked Rafe's character (more than Solomon) actually. I also felt like we got to know Ellie better than we did Jordan in this book. Still none of the characters were really well developed because there was just too much happening in this book.

Overall, not as good as the previous book but still enjoyable and I will continue with this series.

Don't Let Go Navy SEALs Book 5 Marliss Melton 9780446618359 Books Reviews

Don't give up on this series. This is a good story. I liked the conflict and suspense, although I had some problems with a few of the characters. Still, it's worth a read.

Jordan Bliss is a respectable character, desperate to adopt a young Venezuelan boy. She's likable enough, but I questioned some of her decisions, and reactions. Very emotional and not very smart. Although her devotion to young Miguel is touching.

I started out hating Navy SEAL Chief Solomon McGuire. I didn't like him in NEXT TO DIE, and really didn't like him in the beginning of this tale. He's an ass who has no respect for women. But, he does have a heart and I ended up not hating him. I never liked him--I just didn't hate him. He is reunited with the son he lost five years ago. This happens right after he rescues Jordan Bliss from war torn Venezuela, and rips Miguel out of her arms.

Rafael Valentino, who has been in previous books in the series, is an okay character. Jordan's sister, Jillian, who is Rafe's love interest is interesting but I have problems with their relationship because she's 7 months pregnant with her murdered husband's child when she seduces Rafe.

Sean Harlan is a character I'm looking forward to knowing better. Ellie Stuart is also a promising character--she is the person who returned Solomon's son to him and he is so appreciative he's desperate to help her get out of a terrible situation. I look forward to reading TOO FAR GONE, the next book in this solid series.

If you haven't read Ms. Melton's Navy SEAL series, you're missing out on some good entertainment.

I don't often like over-the-top alpha that venture into Adam Henry behavior. But still, I find myself charmed by Solomon's sweet overtures despite his sometimes boorish behavior.

Having following the "letter of the law" Solomon "Mako" McGuire separates Jordan Bliss from her future adopted son, Miguel. It is a heart-breaking scene and one in which he learns to sincerely regret. Being a parent who has also lost touch with his son, Solomon keenly feels Jordan's loss. When Silas, Solomon's son, suddenly appears back in his life, Mako has the perfect excuse to reconnect with Jordan. I really enjoyed there interactions as he is a bit "raw" and she gives back as good as she gets.

Like in the other SEAL Team books, the author gives us two additional concurrent stories, one that features reoccurring character, FBI Special Agent Rafael Valentino, and new character, Ellie Stuart. Normally, I'm not a big fan of multiple storylines because inevitably, one story gets shorted, but this one worked. Mainly, because Rafe's story is complete with a HEA and Ellie's is a precursor to the next book, Too Far Gone. Consider it a prologue to story.

With each successive book, I'm more and more impressed with the stories. I wasn't overly impressed with book one, but each book thereafter has had stronger a storyline than the last. I can't wait to see what comes next!
